Ahead of the ignition switch, clutch switch, starter button, etc. are FUSES, as shown in the Suzuki manual for my new '02. Their location--I currently don't know ....still learnin'. One other thing might be the starter relay, or solenoid, if you have an ohmmeter and DC voltmeter to test this relay. I'm not sure at this time, but the bike may not start with the sidestand down if in gear?? A bigger problem might be in the timing/de-compression system circuits. ....Krug
